2004 Duckhorn Vineyards Napa Valley
Duckhorn has made its name with Merlot, but its Sauvignon Blanc has a cult following too. Winemaker Mark Beringer blended in 24 percent Semillon with its Sauvignon Blanc, giving the wine a rich lemon-melon character
2004 Napa Valley Sauvignon Blanc
The 2004 season began with an early bud break and flowering that led naturally to an early harvest. We began harvesting grapes the second week of August, but then experienced a cooling trend that allowed additional hang time for many of the later red varieties. This slow and steady period of ripening ended just after Labor Day, when we welcomed a heat wave that accelerated harvest to an early finish.
Comments from the Winemaker
The 2004 Sauvignon Blanc offers a fresh, rounded entry with bright, crisp acidity, a rich mouthfeel.
